I’m Seojin Ha, a percussionist at Sunset High School in Portland, Oregon. I currently serve as Principal Percussion with the Portland Youth Philharmonic, the OMEA All-State Orchestra, and the NAfME All-Northwest Wind Ensemble. I also trained in the Young Artist Program at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, where I deepened both my technique and my love for orchestral percussion.
Offstage, I use music to serve my community, a commitment I’m passionate about. Through benefit concerts and outreach projects, I’ve supported students experiencing homelessness, contributed to disaster-relief efforts, and helped raise awareness for environmental initiatives.
When I’m not at the timpani or marimba, I’m writing. I cover topics from environmental advocacy to local journalism for a community news outlet, and I pursue creative projects that let me experiment with storytelling and voice.
